Start at the end and work your way up...
Month 9: We've just arrived at month 9 and with it has come: a trip to San Francisco, crawling, waving, first ear infection, and running away from mom and dad and laughing hysterically while he's doing it. It's actually pretty cute...for this month anyway. We're excited for what the remaining 3 months of his first year will bring and could never have imagined what being parents would be like. It is the most amazing gift from the Lord and we continue to be grateful for our little man everyday!
Month 8: First Christmas! Eli was not very good at opening presents and wasn't even very interested in the paper they came in. He has been so alert since the beginning and is either so alert that he has to whip his head around to see EVERYTHING that's going on around him or he has severe ADD and can't stay focused on the task at hand. This month he got his two top teeth and began rocking on all fours. We swore crawling was "just around the corner" but it was still a long time coming. He donned the $1 Santa outfit mommy scored at the consignment store and enjoyed his first Christmas, well actually WE enjoyed his first Christmas! We also made another quick trip to Camarillo for a little business/pleasure trip yet again.
Month 7: We picked up the family and moved yet again this month. We had enough of the little condo and were presented with a killer deal from a family friend to move into a bigger house in a better part of town. We gladly accepted and have been thankful eversince. I continued to work a few days a week at the Psychiatric hospital while Josh cared for Eli on those days. He would text me all day long with pictures and little stories of what the boys were doing at home. It was cute to see Daddy and baby bonding and made the days less painful for me to be gone. Eli was a pro at "patty-cake" thanks so great grandpa Gene, slept on his tummy, made all kinds of spitting and other noise, held his bottle on his own and enjoyed his first Thanksgiving this month!
Month 6: This month we went to Houston for Bill and Amanda's wedding. We got to introduce Eli to all of our Navy friends from Josh's old squadron in Washington. It was so much fun to reunite with everyone and we feel incredibly blessed to have all these families in our lives. It's so much fun to watch everyone get married and the families continue to grow. Eli had his first babysitter while we went to the wedding. We also took a trip to Vegas (our first ever) for Josh's business and left Eli with Mimi and Pops for the weekend. It was fun to hang out with Cousins Jeff and Jackie and our new friends and Josh's business partners, Sean and Amy for the weekend, but was a little hard leaving baby boy behind. He did fine and of course Mimi and Pops loved their time with him. We also got to spend a week in Corpus. Josh had to go back for his Navy Reserve duty and Eli and I flew down there to see him and all our old friends. We started to eat solids and Eli turned over a new leaf and began to love them. He ate all kinds of fruits, veggies and oatmeal and got his first two bottom teeth.
Month 5: This is the day we took my family up to pick berries and apples with the Saunders. Gram Gram (Josh's g-ma, Eileen) made these adorable pumpkin hats for the boys. We also took another trip to Camarillo for more business and family time and we introduced rice cereal this month which our son was not a fan of at all. He would make the typical "I'm not having this" face and would spit it out onto his chin. We decided to put it off for a few more weeks.
Month 4: Eli received his first haircut. It was time to get rid of the "business up front, party in the back" mullet action he had! Month 4 was full of trips up to Alta for blackberry picking, a trip to Tahoe with our good friends and the State Fair with the Webber Family. Eli discovered his fingers and thumb this month. He was like a leaky faucet and always had them in his mouth chomping on them. He never really sucked them, but always chomped! He was also "Whooing" a lot here. We'd hear him in the mornings when he woke up and would "Who" like a little owl until we came to get him. I loved hearing his little self entertaining babbling and still do to this day.

Month 3: We went to Grant's Pass, Oregon to spend the week with our 2 cousins Jeff and Jackie. Here we are on the boat...we've graduated to the 12 mos. swim trunks at this point! We had a wonderful week as Josh learned the ins and outs of the commodities business and Eli and I got to do all kinds of fun stuff. Uncle Jeff even took me flying and let me control the yoke for about 5 minutes! We also over-indulged at the Rogue Creamery and rediscovered our love for Blue Cheese. We've gotten the opportunity to hang out with Jeff and Jackie a few times since this trip and have enjoyed each time. We hope they will make a trip out to California in these next couple months so we can attempt to spoil them as they have spoiled us...HINT HINT! Eli was a big fist eater this month. He wouldn't favor any particular finger, he just wanted his whole fist in his mouth. He also loved playing "peek a boo" and would stand while death gripping your hands.
Month 2: We spent the day with the Mathisons and our other long time family friends for Reese's birthday. This was the cutest pair of swim trunks Eli inherited from his friend, Leif. He only got to wear them twice because he was growing so fast. I think they were actually too tight on him in this pic! It has been fun to get together with my old college friends and see all the kiddos interact. We used to talk about when these days would come while we were in college and it's fun to see those discussions actually come to fruition!
Month 1: On our way to So Cal to stay with GG and Gramps. Eli met his great grandparents, great aunt and uncle and many 2nd cousins. He approved!!! We have since been down to Camarillo 3 times and each time we feel so blessed and thankful to be within driving distance of family again. Josh's grandparents always provide such warm and "delicious" hospitality and it's fun for us to watch them develop a sweet relationship with our son. We've also been able to spend more time with Josh's aunt, uncle and cousins, which is ALWAYS a good time!
