St. Mark's Basilica & Plaza
It's hard to tell, but we were riding on a ferry on the Grand Canal. It was more than words can describe just how incredibly cool it was.We hopped on a train from Vicenza which is about 40 minutes from Venice and got to spend a beautiful warm and sunny day with all the Venetians and the many tourists. I can see why they classify Venice as one of the most romantic cities in the world. It was indescribable how the whole city was built on water and really was aMAZEing! Luckily I have a husband who majored in navigation at the academy otherwise I would have been lost all day. The Grand Canal makes a large "S" in the middle of the city and the houses are all built on top of eachother and very close together so that the city is full of little alleys. It felt like we were in a maze for most of the day. We enjoyed every minute of it though and appreciated the serenity of the city compared to the others we've visited which seemed full of hustle and bustle! If you find yourself in Italy, Venice is a must see!
